In cars, the CEL can be reset by disconnecting the battery. Some say just the negative post. You'll have to let it sit for a little while to drain all the power. Experiment and let us know the results, try 5 minutes, then 30, then an hour+ to see the time required. Otherwise a dealer should be able to clear the codes.

My guess is you rode the bike and met those criteria. It doesn't have to be in one fell swoop, it can be done in three increments. Just as soon as all those criteria are met, then the code will go out. It's the exact same error code process on the 2016+ ZX-10R.

I also experienced the check engine light being on. After installing the fuel controller and exhaust system.
This was done at 29 miles.
Due to life in general. Riding the bike for an extented length wasn't an option. The only exceptions being. A few startups until the engine warmed, then a lap or two around the lawn... Until yesterday!
The weather was a bit windy, but it didn't deter me.
I rode the bike on a errands run. Making several stops. My odometer reading was at 55 miles when I noticed the yellow check engine light was no longer lit! Whew! The bike runs great & the top speed I achieved was only 51mph. But, I never was *** nor did I hit the limiter.
So, like MNNTHBX wrote. Ride it and it will correct itself.
Thanks to all of you here that's helped me on my build.
Happy Thanksgiving to everybody & Cheers! Ride safe! And,call your loved ones - tell em so.

I too have had my share of this check engine light symptom after a failed quick-shifter install, thanks to this forum, I tried the battery removal method (left it out overnight), didn't work, then I just said "F*CK IT!" and rode it like I normally do, after a couple of days, the check engine light just suddenly went off. Oh such joy.

Hey Guys just as an fyi, I had no check engine after chimera, yosh, and bazzaz. After a few hundred miles (maybe more) I had a day where it would not fire. Just turned and turned no start. Then I primed it twice and it started. CEL was on.. rode again for about 100 miles maybe less light went off. After a week or so it came back on again after another non start. Brought it in to the dealer as it did not go away on its own. They are saying bad ECU. Not sure if anyone else has had this yet?

Hey man I literally just picked my 125 up 2 days ago. Yesterday after I got off I wanted to take it for first ride, wheeled it out started it up np ,let it run for 2-4 min to warm up. Got on the thing put it in first and it stalled. Went to crank it again no go CEL was on. Let it sit for 15 min tried it again fired up rode it for solid 20 min then put her away. Wanted to cruise around again tonight did the same exact thing now when you try to turn it over the bike doesn't seem like it's trying to gut CEL is on I literally don't even have 20 miles on it

Your CEL will always be on if the ignition is on but the engine is not running. I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but is your side stand up when you put it in first? When you try to start it is the side stand up or is the bike in neutral? Those are the only two ways the bike will start. Also, if it is in gear I believe you have to have the clutch disengaged(lever pulled) to start.

I got the check engine light bug also. Mine was self inflected. lol I was installing a new exhaust set-up and totally unplugged my 02 sensor to get everything all clear and out of the way.. For some reason after installing the exhaust i decided to turn the ignition on with the 02 sensor unplugged. "bling" instant check engine light on..

I'll let you know my results. Following the service code erase procedure from the manual.
so far I let the bike idol for 1 min. rode the bike above 25 mph while riding the bike for more then 10 minuets.

first cycle done at lunch will be picking it up after i get off work see what happens.
