I was considering buying a z125 and Cycletrader has a few dealers selling them new at $1999. It sounds too low to be true. Not listing dealers here, but there are a couple on the west coast and a couple on the east coast. Anyone know if there's been a serious markdown? Either too much inventory or new model year coming already?

It is. and with shipping to midwest would still be cheaper than getting it at the regular (~2999?) around here.
Just seeing if anyone had experience with the dealerships or if it was some kind of scam

I hate it when places do **** like that! that seriously tanks resale value of bikes. I lost about $5,000 when I sold my 2008 Honda CBR 1000rr because I paid $11,500 out the door then a year later dealers discounted the left over models for around $8,000 out the door. of course a used one would have to sell for less than that so I ended up selling around $6,000 or so. grr.

This is COMPLETELY NOT TRUE. I work at a legit Kawi dealership and spoke with my rep about this.

#1 All dealers pay the same price. Nobody is stopping them from loosing money, but all dealers have the same invoice cost.

#2 Freight, PDI, Tire tax, Sales Tax, Doc fee, etc are extra. Don't get sucked in by a "low" advertised price and then get hidden fee'd to death.

#3 It is likely that $1999 Z125's exist. But they will NOT be a full version or they will be lacking key components, or lacking an ECU flash that makes them operable which only a licensed dealer can do, or a shipment that someone picked up from a sea can that was at the bottom of the ocean for a while, or a VIN that doesn't exist.

#4 There is NOT a new model for 2018. We got a KRT revision but that's about it.

Talk to your local Kawasaki dealer about this. If your salesman/woman can't answer questions just PM me. The "CHEAP" advertised price of any motorcycle has a habit of being "MORE EXPENSIVE" than the regular price at a local dealer. I see it every day.

thanks for the info. My local dealer has a $500 sale going on, bringing price down to 2499. I'm most likely going to get an OTD price and give them the business. I don't know anything about dealerships and I wouldn't have thought that the bike could be somehow "not a full version". With the lowball price though it makes sense. I assumed they would just tell me "oh that was stock #4400 and it sold, now we have #4405 for $2700. FWIW the places had good yelp reviews.

I would call ahead of time and try to get an OTD price before driving out there. This way you will know what to expect when/if you drive out there.

It's a little easier to work out a price with them if you at least know what they would "like" to get for it.

Best I've been able to find is $2699 with the only fee above tax/title/license being a $130 documentation fee.

I found one for $2599 but then they wanted about $400 more for various bullsh1t fees.

Those of you saying you can buy z125 for $2K or less, how about posting up the rest of the story? Are they also adding on fees for freight, setup, documentation, or any of the many other more inventive ideas for additional dealer profit?

I think I'm in contact with the same $2699 dealer and I'm most likely going to pull the trigger with them. It seems like the most legit price from what I've seen on this forum. The few that were any cheaper all had about $1k of extra fees.

thanks for the input everyone
