Hi Everyone,
I'm a long time rider (55 years) and have a 2001 Road Star that I plan on selling once warm weather gets here. It pains me to sell it, but after 2 knee surgeries and a rotator cuff repair, I'm afraid the 700 lb.beast is more than I want to ride anymore. Hence my interest in the Z. I still want to ride, but think the minis would be a fun way to do it. I've been looking online and the Groms are popular, but the new ones are just plain ugly. The Kawasaki has kept the sport bike flair and still looks good. I'll be going out of town this Friday for my 6 month dental cleaning, so plan on going by a dealership that sells Kawasaki and Honda for a first hand look. My heart is pretty well set on a Z. If they can get me the color I want (red), I might go ahead and order one, since their inventory only shows blue and sage green. I want a flashy color. Wish me luck, and thanks for letting me join this group. I'm sure I'll learn a lot more about mods and tech!

The Z is an awesome bike.

I meant to get back to a Z in spring ‘22. This time last year I checked out each color at the shop but none of the ‘22 colors looked like ‘own me’. I left wondering which color could I live with. A few months later I went back for the white and blue and they were sold out...of my whole area.

Long story sort, I ended up getting a Grom and I have learned to love the thing. But it’s no Z

My take is that Honda made a true ‘mini bike’. A fancy, high quality street legal version of the toy in my avatar. Widely appealing for both experienced riders and a huge amount of people who never rode a bike and wont be too judgmental about the bike as a whole.

Kawi, on the other hand, made the Z to be a real mini motorcycle. The bike definitely gives more of the ‘full size’ bike experience than the Grom. Not in power but in the overall feel of riding it.

This is why I bought one new in ‘18 and came back for another this year.

Good luck with yours. I think you’re gonna have a lot more fun with it than you realize.
