I took off the airbox on my z and used the hose to attach a uni filter to it. She runs a lot better, waiting to get an exhaust to really complement the mod. I've gained 1 to 3 mph so can't complain. Also used a uni filter for crank case vent.

I did the same, except I left the airbox on, cut out all the baffles in the box & used a holesaw to drill two 1.75 inch holes in the airbox lid. The filter by itself was too loud & high pitched for me just hanging in the open. But inside the airbox, the intake roar is nice & deep.

Thats a nice mod! I have a uni filter on the way as well.

Planning to reuse the pipe but not sure if i want to keep the air box. Might keep it there and drill holes to the side of the filter for air and to try and keep water out.

Have you had any issues running just the pipe with uni filter in the rain?

Also, do you oil both the inner and outer layer?
