Hi, all. I’m brand new as I just decided this week that I need to get myself a mini bike. Haven’t yet purchased one but have been pouring the internet looking at Grom and Z125 info - probably headed to a dealership soon! I’m a 13 year rider who’s into road racing on the big bikes and I’m hoping to use a small bike as a parking lot training tool. I’ll race it as well if I can find decent opportunities near San Francisco.
Anyway, from what I’ve gleaned, the Z125 seems like the bike I’d prefer - mostly due to better stock suspension. My only hesitance is around parts. There are tons of parts readily available for the Grom and they all seem to fit across all model years. Conversely for the Z125 I’m seeing lots 16-18 or 16-19 compatibility designations on parts. Can someone clue me in on what major model revision years are and how much changed? If you happen to know why it’s so hard to find frame sliders that say they’re compatible with 2020, that would be good to know too....
