Fuel injection HELP

311 Views 23 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  rescalera
Hey new here need help desperately. Not sure if this is the right place but I recently got a z125 from my brother that dosnt run he thought it might be the fuel pump. I work on cars not bikes but the fuel pump works it just not spraying when plugged in to harness. Injectors spray when plug straight to battery and bikes starts and just dies. Not sure what's going on. He said installed a fuel controller in it ran but then stored it for winter and it hasn't run after winter. Please help

Knowing exactly how you tested the fuel pump could tell me a lot and maybe have a few suggestions.

I pulled the fuel line going to the fuel injector and fuel comes out then I'll remove the fuel injector and plug the line back in and try to start but injector is not spraying but the injector would spray when I hook it straight to the battery. I'm kinda thinking it's the fuel controller or 1 of the harness or electrical wire is the problem from the fuel controller. I ended up taking the fuel controller out and plugging everything back to stock harness and the injector is spraying now but battery died. Charging it overnight will check again in the am.

The bike will start for a little when I hook the injector straight to battery hopefully it will run after charging the battery and removing the controller and plugging it all stock. My brother installed the fuel controller before the winter then stored it during winter now it won't start that's y I'm thinking it'd the controller since that's the last mod he did before having issues. Maybe a mice got to the wire or the controller Is faulty not sure but getting fuel from pump getting spark don't have compression tester but the injector not spraying with the controller plugged in injector spraying without it. Going check in the morning after removing the controller
Also I messed up electrical wires for the float in the fuel pump when I was trying to change just the pump out but kept getting wrong pump wasn't trying to spend 400 on a whole new sending unit. But the fuel pump works fine its just the bike fuel guage is reading empty I don't think that will be an issue not sure. If so please lmk. Going to fix the wires to float later on after getting bike to run

Was trying to change fuel pump cause my brother was sure that was the issue but I'm not to sure it is after doing a few test

If you have the BAZZAZ fuel controller this link is most likely the issue
Otherwise sounds like you found the issue

If you don't have the sending unit wires hooked up the gage may show "blinking" as the ECU is not getting the proper signal.
Maybe you can repair the wires or try something different to make it so they dont blink.

It dosnt bother me with the light blinking I wasn't sure if it would cause any problems with the wires off I just have the pump wires connected not the float wires connected. The terminal connectors broke off when I was changing the pump but it was the wrong pump so I put oem 1 back in with just the 2 wires for the pump.

Yes I think it is a bazzazz fuel controller I'm read that link in the morning when I get off work before I work on the bike. Wanna get the bike running before the summer. Thank you I'll let u know how it goes I'm hoping it is the issue.

Had to a chance to read the thread real quick sounds like the issue I'm having man with the Injector harness thank you I hope it solves the problem I was able to remove all the harness and fuel controller and plug in all the stock ones but the battery died. So I'm check in the morning. Sounds exactly what I'm going through right now.

I don't think it is included in any of the shut-off or starter lock-out systems in the ECU.

There was another member that had the blinking light driving him crazy and asked for the pin-out for it and was going to just cut the wire to the light under the meter cluster.
He never came back and posted if he did it or if it worked, So your call

Bike didn't start how to test fuel pump? I cycle the key the pump primes for about 1 second and fuel comes out the line but if shut the key off and back on no fuel comes out until maybe 5 seconds later then pump primes again
2
When key switch 1st turned on... If it runs for 3 seconds every time key is cycled that's working normal)
If the fuel pump only runs for 1 second / its a bad ignition switch (test)
If it only runs for 3 seconds the first time and quickly turned off and on it doesn't run until waiting a few seconds ... Thats a bad VDS (by-pass test)

Get the pump to run for the full 3 seconds every time first then you can test the fuel pump for flow.
( dont have the actual fuel pressure #)

It sounds like the vds the pump will run (not sure how long) but won't run again until a few seconds then will run after cycling the key a few times. Not sure if it matters but it is a 2017 br125j that's what the title says. I would to try the vds bypass

Ok so the fuel will flow 1 time then wont anymore until a few seconds later then will flow again like it's intermittent about to go outside again

Where's the vds located at?
Ok so the fuel will flow 1 time then wont anymore until a few seconds later then will flow again like it's intermittent about to go outside again
Its ALSO normal to have to wait a few seconds as well when its working normal
