I tried to change the spark plug when it was really cold and I was in a hurry and stripped the threads. Anybody rethreaded the head on one of these? Is there a way to make sure I get the tap in straight? Any rethread kit you recommend?

I'm left handed and half polish I really shouldn't be wrenching on bikes.

You will need to pull the head off if you or a shop does it so maybe better to just take it to a shop and have them put a Heli-coil in it considering your comments and if you haven't done a few Heli-coils I wouldn't attempt it with the head considering a new head replacement cost

Heres the Metric Size you need if you decide to DIY. 10 -1M

My roommate is a tech at a local Harley dealer and also suggested we take the head off to do it but I talked him into doing it with the head on and used air to clear the cylinder after tapping it, grease on the tap to catch shavings etc. The idea being if we f'ed it up I would throw a new head on along with big bore kit. But it went well and so far so good.
