Rode the beast to town 5 miles, filled up, rode back to my little community to visit a friend and the battery shorted. The battery was sizzling. I removed it and it is still sizzling in a bucket. I guess the Yuasa ytx4l-bs isn't a good battery. It was fun while it ran.

Definitely take it back to the dealer or call them if you can't get it there. Should be covered under warranty with so few miles. If it was "sizzling" then it might have an internal short that will be easy to test. But was this a Yuasa battery or a "FB" battery like I have in mine? I doubt they use 2 different brands of batteries, but then...maybe?

I have left my bike on on accident for hours and could still ride away. excessive heat in the battery would sure have me worried about my electrical system. The battery could have shorted out internally but that doesn't seem very likely with how good today's batteries are made without something like your electrical system initially causing the short. A battery can explode and catch fire if it gets hot like that, definitely a major problem.

The battery was not the factory battery. The factory battery was replaced as the key was left on and it ran dead. I asked for a new one and they obliged. Kawasaki said the factory one was on back order and this one would be ok..

I noticed that these days batteries are sealed much better than they were previous. Might have to do with what ever regulating body had to say about them for safety reasons, that's often how it works.

you should ask for the factory battery since the one they gave you is not ok at all. There may be a bit of a wait but at least the factory one shouldn't fizzle.
Agreed 100%. Substitution of anything less than the OEM battery the bikes ship with from the factory is unacceptable. Make the dealer make it right.

The shop thinks like I do the battery was the culprit, it shorted. The shop did as the factory engineers directed him. They have it now and will make sure it does not boil again.

Make the investment and dump the liquid acid style battery. Lithium iron (note: not ion like your iPhone. IRON). I love the Shorai brand and have them in too many bikes to count. "Yes" it's a bit more money but their performance is awesome, and at the size of two packs of smokes and 1.1 pounds.................yea!!!

They called and said it was done. They said there have been a few batteries shorting, especially the YXT4L-BS(AGM)
