Dying at idle issue

847 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  hybridziggy
Hi all, my z125 pro started dying on idle last week. I am living in a small town near Hong Kong and my dealer said they haven't received any message from kawasaki about replacing the ecu for free, so i am going to buy a new ecu from the internet and replace it by myself. Does it work? Anything should be done before replace the ecu? or I can just plug it in my bike then go?

If its a 2017-2018 You can show them its on recall by having THEM enter your Vin number but they may not honor it over there ?

Need to do a ECU reset when installed

If you order a ECU make sure your not buying one that needs the recall

I brought my bike to my dealer and told them my issue last week. The technician drove my car on the road for testing, then he said my bike was fine after he backed. They didn't seem willing to help me with my problems:mad:.
Over here all dealers are required by law to honor and replace ANY RECALL regardless of whether they think there's a problem or not !!!
.
Not sure how you can report them over there if they refuse ?
There's a PDF available here

If a dealer refuses to repair your vehicle in accordance with the recall letter, you should notify the manufacturer immediately. You can also file a complaint with NHTSA at www. safercar. gov and provide as many details as possible, including the name of the dealership and any personnel involved.
Did you check and confirm you do have a recall ?

Yes check if your vin is under the recall then go in and ask about that specifically. Also what does dying ay idle mean.

Starts up then instantly dies?
