Brake light switch (rear brake / pedal)

415 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  afineAmerican
Hello, I recently bought a used Z125 and the brake light only comes on when I pull the front brake lever, but not with the rear brake pedal. I looked and the switch is there, but the wires aren’t plugged into anything. For instance, the green wire is just hanging out near my battery. I can’t figure out where these plug into. Can somebody help me locate where these wires are supposed to lead? Thank you.
(The cables I’m referring to look like the ones in this picture, not plugged into anything)

The pic you show is probably a aftermarket switch.
Will need to alter/splice one of the 2 ends to hook up
Should be a through circuit so color of wires to each shouldn't matter.

Hey thanks for the reply. Upon further inspection, the switch is working fine, the spring that connects the switch to the brake pedal was super loose so the travel of the brake pedal wasn’t activating the switch. Honestly I’m surprised the spring hadn’t fallen off. I bent the spring & now it’s working as expected.

If not part of the brake wiring.. I am curious what this exposed connector is supposed to be doing though… are all of these bikes like this? (Underneath the seat on the left side, by the battery)

I was about to post the picture of my connector after work but @Kaw'ee beat me to it. Yes there is a plug!

That loose jacketed one is normal.
