97 octane fuel & a 15 tooth sprocket

Hi everyone,

Been disappointed with the performance of your z125?

Three tank fulls of 97octane fuel and a 15 tooth front sprocket (available at long last) and I am the happiest guy in the village!

It's great, hits the redline in 5th on the flat no problem, feels lively, cruises in 6th up hills or in to a headwind. It's bloody marvellous, it's now the bike that I thought I was buying.

Regards,
Dave.

Hi JR,

I have no other modifications, I simply spent 9.99 on a one tooth smaller front sprocket and the thing came to life!

Regards,
Dave.

Huh? You say 5th and 6th, but Z125 only has 4 speed transmission. That's why I asked

Do you really only have a 4 speed box on your side of the Atlantic?

What a bummer!

You have a whole different motorcycle than we have. We are about 8 horsepower with 12 inch wheels, yours is up at 14hp and has bigger wheels. And we only have 4 gears. Yours is meant as a "real" motorcycle which is suitable for certain types of roads and L plates, ours is really meant as a toy but can be a good learner cycle too.

How fast does your go? Will it get to 100kph? Ours is about 72 to 75kph maximum, maybe 80kph going down hill.

And all of us over here are now jealous of you!

Hi Greg,

You just made my day.

I have an over-rev. limiter on all six gears which stops you actually redlining and restricts the top end to 73mph ( I'm sorry I have no idea what that is in kph).
As I have altered the gearing my clock reads 72mph at the redline in 5th but I am only actually doing 70 which is just fast enough for our 'A' roads (there the little fast ones with all of the bends in), the good thing about it is that our 'boys in blue' are so underfunded that they can only afford to police the bigger 'motorways' and they only have enough 'speed camera's' to cover the 30mph zones. So as long as you stay sensible in built up areas, you can have the time of your life everywhere else.
