What do you like about your Z?

I was thinking about this yesterday so hereís why for me.

I like riding it, obvious.

I like the styling of the bike.

I like the stock suspension..how it doesnít wallow like a Grom.

I like that itís a mini bike. I rode those as a kid.

Iíve owned it for over a year now and have found it useful in more riding situations than I originally thought it could cover.

I commute it to work every day as long as itís not already raining when I have to go in the morning. My back country road commute is actually a lot of fun and has gone a long way towards my appreciation of the Z as more than just a toy. Along with this, check out my parking spot below. Iím literally parked at my desk.

Thereís one more thing. See the pic of the antique triple wide commercial lawn mower below. Every summer when I was a boy I watched old Mr. Jackson pushing one of these things around the yards in my neighborhood. It had a really distinct sound to it. Sometimes now, when Iím stopped at a light, and I catch the Zís stock exhaust note just right, the sound of the Z brings me back 45 years to that ancient grass cutting machine.

Iím sure there are many more reasons to be into this bike. Post yours

That you can actually ride it to the limit and not be breaking the law (much). It is a blast to be able to just be going through every gear and ripping through turns without having to really slow down.

Riding a small bike to the limit is much more fun than riding a bigger bike casually.

+1 to the "slow bike fast" theory.

I'll add approachable to the list. We bought our first Z as a starter bike for my wife and I had so much fun putting break-in miles on it that I bought my own in the spring. Having two of them is also fun because you can get old friends back on two wheels even if they haven't ridden in years. There is just zero intimidation factor with these baby bikes. Hop on and rip it!

I love the size. Iím a ďMediumĒ and it just fits me perfectly. Coming from a scooter, I feel like this is a perfect stepping stone in terms of size and motor!

It fits real nicely in my garage along with all the other **** in there. It also fits in the back of my Suburban and is easy to get in and out of it, another plus. You can ride it balls to the wall and still get 80+ mpg. It gets constant looks and praise. You literally cant have a frown while riding it. Parts are cheap and available.

I check all the same boxes. My first bike was a 1976 Rupp scrambler. Through the course of 30 bikes, I went all the way up to tuned near 200 mph literbike all the way back down to a 125. Smaller bikes, bigger fun. I don't feel the need to go smaller, this is it. Unless, ahem, a decent Aprilia RS50 shows up on craigslist.

How about some likes for the kart track.
  • Super easy to get a knee down when you are already close to the ground
  • 12" tires are cheap and they make some sticky ones too
  • High sides don't make you fly through the air like superman for 20 yards
  • Low sides you just skid on your butt for 3 feet and get up
  • The tighter the track the better - 12" wheels are made for this
  • Actual cornering clearance compared to the Grom

Yeah, what he said. I love wringing this thing out but not getting myself into to much trouble. It seems these little engines can really take a beating. I have both the Z125 and a Grom and although the Grom may be more popular, I feel the Z has a more sporty demeanor. I think it looks better also. As I appear to be evolving into Gollum in my twilight years , small bikes are starting to really appeal to me.
