I agree with Greg E - Oil temp gage is slow to respond to changing temps. I do think it could be used after a ride to get a ball park typical temp range for reference. I just installed the Trail Tech (cylinder surface mount sensor) which has provided me with good and interesting data. Surprising how little pulling in the clutch and coasting lowers head temps. Supports what I learned with my sled - the fuel does play a significant role in cooling things off. : ).
